Celebrity: Simon Whitfield
Profession: Two-time Olympic Medalist + 12-time Canadian Triathlon Champion
Vehicle: 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport SUV

Simon Whitfield captured Canadian hearts after winning gold in the men’s triathlon at the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics. Later, the decorated athlete scored a silver medal in the men’s triathlon at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. In 2012, he was Canada’s flag bearer for the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

After retiring in 2013, the 12-time Canadian triathlon champion is now a partner and director of sports entertainment at the Fantan Group in Victoria, B.C. He continues to be actively involved in numerous charitable organizations including KidSport, GoodLife Kids Foundation, and Power To Be. He’s also Land Rover Canada’s brand ambassador, responsible for promoting outdoor adventure — a lifestyle he’s passionate about. Whitfield lives in Victoria with his wife and two daughters.

“The Discovery speaks to my life. I’ve got a big dog, two kids and friends that want to go on adventures. It says that I’m someone that doesn’t just want to, but needs to get outside and explore. There’s something in me that really needs to be outside exploring. I need to get some space and time to decompress, whether I’m alone or with my friends and family,” says the 40-year-old father of two daughters.

My dream car is a Defender. I saw a 1985 Land Rover Defender parked in front of the Empress Hotel in Victoria and it was stunning. Absolutely immaculate. What a car!
