Volvo recalls 2.18M cars globally over defective seat belts

Volvo has recalled 2.18 million vehicles globally for defective seat belts. “The defect relates to a steel cable used in the front seat belt assembly that may fatigue and weaken over time, resulting in reduced restraint function of the seat belts,” said CarAdvice. The recall affects previous-generation S60, S60L, S60 Cross Country, V60, V60 Cross Country, XC60, V70, XC70, S80 and S80L models manufactured between 2006 and 2019.
