Victoria Hyundai general sales manager Macon Doublet has pledged to help raise funds for the Chemainus branch of the Royal Canadian Legion after hearing that it was the victim of a break and enter. Doublet, a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces who served with Lord Strathcona’s Horse Armoured Corps in Afghanistan but not a Legion member, said “we have the means to give them a hand to get some of that cash back” and help with the cost of the clean-up. The Legion branch is located 80 kilometres north of Victoria.
The Victoria dealership has organized a series of events with the aim of raising $5,000. Doublet said that as a former military member he was aware that the efforts contribute to both service members and the community.
