South of the border, that consumer online auto buying resource TrueCar Inc., has announced the formation of a National Dealer Council. This new development is designed to result in a platform that enables TrueCar to deliver a range of products and services that is beneficial to both consumers and dealers.
The Dealer Council launches with 21 members, who will work directly with TrueCar to provide recommendations and help improve collaboration between the online platform and automotive retailers, resulting not only in a smoother, more rewarding customer experience, but also provide a greater support system and voice for automotive retailers, says the company.
The council is made up of some 310 franchises, incorporating 31 automotive brands and stores ranging from large groups to family owned independent dealerships. In an effort to capture a broad range of different viewpoints and feedback, it is likely that council will also consult different types of business within the automotive industry as well as dealers who aren’t necessarily council members.
In response to the announcement, the newly appointed chairperson of the council, Gary Marcotte, remarked “I’m excited to chair [the TrueCar National Dealer Council] and I look forward to working with my fellow members to ensure the dealers’ voice is heard.”
It will be interesting to see what results from the new TrueCar National Dealer Council initiative and also if something similar ends up migrating north to Canada.
