Honda Canada launched a new awareness campaign on January 6 that informs consumers about the CO2 emissions ratings of each vehicle in its Canadian lineup.
In a news release, the OEM said its “Driven to Reduce Emissions Since 1948” campaign aims to help Canadian drivers reduce their carbon footprint by offering more product transparency, and by supporting a growing need by consumers to make more informed buying decisions.
“Bringing CO2 emission information to consumers’ attention aligns with our belief that lowering emissions of vehicles on the road in Canada is the best way for us to help combat climate change,” said Dave Gardner, President and CEO of Honda Canada.
Consumers can verify the emissions ratings much the same way food service providers list information about the calorie breakdown of their product. Honda said its vehicle Emission Indicator badges display the grams per kilometre driven emission rating. More information is available on Honda Canada’s website.
“The campaign also educates Canadians on Honda’s global philosophy and vision of reducing overall CO2 emissions from its products and all aspects of its business and manufacturing operations,” said Honda Canada.
In-line with its vision, the OEM plans to “electrify” two-thirds of its global auto sales by 2030 — so expect to see more electric or hybrid-electric vehicles in its fleet over the coming years as part of its goal to combat climate change.
