XPEL ULTIMATE paint protection is proving popular with dealers in Canada. According to Mathieu Moreau, General Manager at Parasol Canada (which distributes XPEL in this country), a combination of superior quality (XPEL ULTIMATE features advance clear coat technology and a 10-year warranty), plus the growth in paint protection as one of the most popular F&I products offered through dealerships, are significant factors.
“Our harsh climate means that more people want or need to look after their vehicles,” says Moreau. “We’ve seen big demand, not just for hoods and bumpers but entire front end protection.” Moreau says that a big increase in consumer education regarding the benefits of paint protection is delivering value for both consumers and dealers. “If you lease a vehicle for 36 months, a front end paint protection package for $24 per month is good value, especially when, at the end of the lease you aren’t having to pay $1000 to have the front end of your vehicle repainted.”
Moreau says that Alberta and Quebec currently represent the biggest markets for XPEL, though Ontario is witnessing strong growth too. He says that in some cases, dealers are witnessing an 80 per cent take rate for XPEL ULTIMATE and for high volume stores the margins are significant. “When you are able to charge $800-$1000 for a paint protection package and out of the 250 cars you sell or lease each month, 80 per cent are equipped with XPEL ULTIMATE, that represents around $2 million a year in revenue. It’s big business.”
