With the announcement of the acquisition of East Coast International Trucks, Steele Auto Group has officially entered the heavy truck market — a move it has apparently had its eye on for a while.
“It has been a long-term objective of ours to diversify Steele through various means such as brand, geography and business lines,” said Kim Day, President and COO of Steele Auto Group, in a statement. “The heavy truck industry has always been on the top of that list.”
Day said Steele Auto Group and East Coast International Trucks share similar values, and that both put customer service at the forefront of how they operate.
As for East Coast International Trucks, the company’s president David Lockhart confirmed the importance of that last value as he looks forward to a “unified culture” where people (including their team) and customers remain the most important part of everything they do.
“I’m confident this will remain the same under the Steele Auto Group,” said Lockhart in a statement. “I am forever grateful for the relationships I’ve built with our customers, and very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work alongside an incredible group of people.”
Steele Auto Group went public with news of the acquisition in early June, which comes on the heels of another announcement that it discontinued its relationship with ALL EV Canada after less than two years.
