Steele Auto Group ends relationship with ALL EV Canada

Steele Auto Group, the biggest dealership in Atlantic Canada, has discontinued its relationship with ALL EV Canada after less than two years.

The dealer group announced its decision earlier this week on social media, indicating it will take effect June 1. All EV Canada, which began in 2019 as specialists in pre-owned Teslas and other EVs, and as a leader in EV education, have one location apiece in Halifax and New Brunswick.

“After careful consideration and evaluation of the current market conditions, unfortunately we have made the difficult decision to discontinue the ALL EV business, effective June 1,” Steele Auto Group indicated on social media.

“Since the acquisition of ALL EV in July 2021, we have endeavoured to consistently deliver exceptional quality and maintain strong relationships with our clients. However, the lack of demand for EVs in the market has made it increasingly challenging for us to sustain operations and remain profitable,” they added.

The group also said customers have been contacted, and that they will continue to support their EV customers and provide product knowledge, service, and expertise throughout their dealer network.

“We want to sincerely thank the ALL EV team for their hard work and dedication over the past couple of years. The education and awareness gained throughout the journey has been invaluable as the Steele Auto Group continues to embrace an electric future.”

Steele Auto Group Marketing and Communications Manager Christina Wood told Canadian auto dealer the company had no further comments. Two of the original founders of ALL EV Canada left the company a year ago, while a third remains with Steele in a technical advisory role.

Following the announcement of its partnership with ALL EV Canada, Steele Auto President and CEO Kim Day indicated in a media release that it was an “exciting step” for the dealership group.

“We are fortunate here in Atlantic Canada that all four provinces have embraced electric vehicles with a commitment to rebates and charging infrastructure,” said Day. “We really like the expertise and passion that the ALL EV team has built and we see this coming together as an opportunity to accelerate adoption of EVs in our markets.”

In the same media release, Jeff Farwell, who was CEO of All EV Canada at the time, said the partnership marks the beginning of an “exciting new chapter” for EV adoption in Atlantic Canada.

“The time is right to focus on the growth of EV centres and education to guide more people towards electric vehicle ownership,” said Farwell. “We are thrilled to embark on a journey with Steele Auto Group that will increase the vehicle footprint in Atlantic Canada.”
