A letter from trade groups and unions was delivered to House and Senate leaders on Thursday which urged Congress to finance semiconductor manufacturing in the United States. Signed by the American Automotive Policy Council, National Association of Manufacturers, the United Auto Workers, and 17 other associations, the letter asks lawmakers to finance the Chips Act. The act was passed into law as part of the 2021 defense bill and included grants and incentives that would have enabled semiconductor manufacturers to build fabrication facilities in the United States.
