General Motors announced that it plans to invest $100 million to boost production of its 10-speed automatic transmission, which is used in the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. According to Phil Kienle, Vice President of GM North American Manufacturing and Labor Relations, demand for these two light-duty pickups is very strong, which is why the company is “taking action to increase the availability of our trucks for our dealers and customers.” The investment will go towards GM plants in Romulus, Michigan and Bedford, Indiana.
