Dealer Security releases dealership safety recommendations

Due to an increase in the number of incidents of criminal activity at dealerships, Dealer Security, the sister company of A&R Solutions, has released a document with a number of safety recommendations for dealerships to consider.

“While COVID-19 may be keeping you and your customers at home, criminals are not doing the same,” said the company in its warning letter. “Instead, we are seeing a significant jump in criminal activity, theft and cybercrime across the country, and that criminals are becoming more brazen than ever. We strongly urge you to take action to protect yourself immediately.”

Some of the recommendations include moving the most valuable inventory inside the dealership, ensuring lot entrances are properly blocked with the least expensive vehicles, and fencing off any remote/back areas.

Ensuring important or valuable portable equipment is moved out of sight, turning off the key management system so it can only be accessed physically with a key, and ensuring the video surveillance system is running and actively monitored are also among the recommendations.

Dealers can access the document here.
