Cox Automotive Canada, which operates Manheim Canada, has acquired complete ownership of Manheim Source Edmonton, effective immediately.
Maria Soklis, President of Cox Automotive Canada, told Canadian auto dealer the move is part of Manheim Canada’s strategy to expand into western Canada.
“There was a demand in the market — our customers really wanted us there — and so we were able to reach a mutual agreement with the previous owner,” said Soklis, who added Manheim had a three year partnership with the Edmonton operation.
“We had gone into the partnership with eventually having the opportunity to bid on that business and to take it over,” she said.
Soklis said the Manheim Source Edmonton facility will benefit local Edmonton dealers by helping connect buyers and sellers to the wholesale market.
Like all Manheim facilities, Soklis said Manheim Source Edmonton will ensure it is running a professional and transparent operation that puts the customer first.
“We needed some representation in that market to properly poise we are coast-to-coast for facilitation of our clients’ needs,” said Soklis.
In October, Cox Automotive Canada announced Manheim Vancouver as part of a strategy to expand its footprint into Western Canada.
Soklis said Manheim Canada is also planning on testing mobile auctions, which she said works well in the company’s U.S. operations.
