“TestFest” returns for another year

The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) reviewers will once again take new vehicles to the test and see how they measure up against their competitors.

The 29th round of the Canadian Car of the Year (CCOTY) awards will take place from Monday, Oct. 26th to Friday, Oct. 30th in Bowmanville, Ont. at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, announced AJAC.

Typically, a panel of reviewers divide new passenger vehicles into categories defined by vehicle type, pricing and intentions, and declare a winner in each category.

Those winners will then compete in a second round of voting to determine the overall title of Canadian Car of the Year, Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year, Canadian Green Car of the Year and Canadian Green Utility Vehicle of the Year.

“Our program is absolutely testing-based, and driven by data and weighted scoring,” said Justin Pritchard, Co-Chair of CCOTY. He added the back-to-back vehicle testing process generates thousands of data points across dozens of voting fields.

Testing and voting data from this year’s panel of competitors will be available shortly after the event in late October, while category winners will be announced in November, said Pritchard.

Pritchard added these scores are made available at www.ajac.ca for new car shoppers to help inform them about the new vehicles in the market.
