Quebec-based OLIJEL said it will officially launch its Intelligent Kill Switch (IKS) anti-theft system in Ontario later this month, as vehicle theft remains a growing concern across the Greater Toronto Area.
In a news release, the company said the Canadian-developed, patented system will debut at the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto from Feb. 13 to 22. The release points to Ontario theft figures as a key driver of demand, citing a report from Équité Association that said nearly 9,600 vehicles were stolen in the province in the first half of 2025.
“Vehicle theft is a daily concern for many drivers and businesses in one of Canada’s largest urban centres. With IKS, we’re bringing a proactive solution to Toronto designed to make theft significantly more difficult, rather than simply managing its consequences” said Jean Poulin, CEO of OLIJEL, in a statement.
The company said IKS is designed to operate outside a vehicle’s CAN bus network, which it argues reduces exposure to certain electronic attack methods. OLIJEL said the system includes immobilization, GPS tracking, real-time monitoring and a mobile app.
While initially designed for individual drivers, the company noted it has expanded the product to serve dealerships and fleet managers through versions branded IKS Fleets and IKS Dealerships. OLIJEL said the business platform includes alerts for unauthorized movement, battery monitoring, trip history, maintenance alerts and data export tools.
“OLIJEL’s presence at the Canadian International AutoShow marks the first step in our broader expansion into the Ontario market. Visitors are invited to learn more about our next-generation anti-theft technology by meeting our on-site team,” said Poulin.
