Dealers join CarProof Alberta transparency campaign

carproof-300Automotive groups and industry associations are lending support to CarProof’s consumer-focused transparency and safety awareness campaign in Alberta.

The London, Ont.-based company which provides vehicle history reports said that automotive groups in Alberta, including McManes, Wood, Kaizen and Revolution, have joined its transparency initiative.

The Association of Alberta Registry Agents (AARA) is also partnering with CarProof by handing out free CarProof reports and AARA registration e-reminders at participating agents. The program is currently running as a pilot in a few AARA locations, with plans for a provincial rollout in the coming weeks.

“It used to be an oxymoron to say transparency in the same sentence as used cars. The past decade has seen tremendous progress on this front but there is much room for improvement. Looking ahead, we are excited to be part of a movement to inspire a new wave of innovation,” said Ed Woiteshek, President and CEO of CarProof, in a written release.

Woiteshek said CarProof will announce more dealer and industry partners over the next few weeks.

Recent CarProof research found half a million of the approximately three million vehicles on the road in Alberta have an unfixed open safety recall. Of the 450,000 used cars purchased annually in Alberta, more than 200,000 are transacted without proper industry standard disclosure, like accident history, said CarProof.
