CarProof is helping OEMs and dealers spread the word about safety recalls by offering Manitoba drivers free vehicle history reports.
The London-Ont. based company, which provides used vehicle reports to Canadians, has calculated there are close to 100,000 vehicles on Manitoba roads with open safety recalls, of the 800,000 vehicles registered in the province.
That translates to roughly more than one in 10 vehicles with open safety recalls. Since early 2014, there have been more than 10 million Canadian vehicles affected by manufacturer recalls, said CarProof.
While OEMs and dealers need to alert drivers about recalls issued on their vehicles, it can be tough to reach owners and pass on the message, said the company.
“We are hoping that by offering these reports for free during the next few months, Manitoba drivers will feel confident they are driving a safe car,” said Ed Woiteshek, President and CEO of CarProof, in a written release.
“And as important, we want to alert those consumers that are driving unsafe cars so they can be properly fixed to make our roads safer for all.”
