CarProof is “all in” on innovation in the auto retail industry, said its CEO, Ed Woiteshek.
“Innovation is no longer a choice. We have to innovate or be disrupted,” said Woiteshek, in his keynote address at the Auto Remarketing Canada 2015 conference for the used vehicle industry, held on April 20-21, 2015 at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto, Ont.
To show CarProof and the auto industry’s commitment to innovation, Woiteshek announced the company is launching and injecting $1 million into an industry led think-tank that supports innovation in a transparent environment.
Dubbed “The Transparency Advantage,” the initiative has already been backed by a number of founding dealer and OEM members, including the Trillium Automobile Dealers Association (TADA), Manitoba-based Birchwood Automotive Group, VW Credit Canada and Mercedes-Benz Canada, among others.
“It’s a huge commitment for CarProof and we want to do it right,” said Woiteshek.” In his keynote address, Woiteshek also touched on his predictions for the direction the used car industry might be headed over the next decade.
Among his predictions, Woiteshek said he hopes consumers will gain confidence when purchasing a pre-owned vehicle, and that car buying will get more “fun” over the next 10 years.
While the industry has experienced innovation, especially from outside influences such as Uber or TrueCar, Woiteshek said there’s a long way to go.
“I see a lot of problems that we can solve together,” said Woiteshek, and added CarProof will soon come out with more information on The Transparency Advantage.
