iA Dealer Services is expanding its OEM business into the pure-play electric vehicle market through a new partnership with VinFast Auto Canada.
The business unit of iA Financial Group said the agreement is its first OEM partnership with a manufacturer dedicated exclusively to EVs. For retailers, the partnership adds protection products to the ownership experience for VinFast customers in Canada.
Under the agreement, customers purchasing VinFast vehicles will initially have access to Tire & Rim Protection and Incident Protection. Additional protection products are planned, although the companies did not provide details or a timeline.
iA Dealer Services already provides protection products for EVs through its existing dealer and OEM relationships. Its products are offered through a direct distribution network encompassing 4,800 automobile and other motor vehicle dealers, OEMs and preferred partnerships across Canada.

Brian Lawrence Finnerty, deputy and CEO of sales, marketing and aftersales at VinFast North America, said the automaker was looking for a Canadian partner that aligned with its focus on the ownership experience.

The companies said the agreement follows several years of relationship development and collaboration.
