Who-drivingRon James

Ron James is one of Canada’s top comedians — an award-winning stand-up comic known for his razor sharp wit and rapid-fire delivery. Besides performing at sold-out comedy gigs across Canada, James stars in his own TV comedy series, The Ron James Show on CBC. His other TV and film credits include Tommy Boy, Wings, Night Heat, Robocop and SCTV. He was voted Canadian Comedian of the Year in 2000 and received a Gemini Award as part of the writing team on This Hour Has 22 Minutes. James, 56, is a native of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia; he lived briefly in LA before settling in Toronto.

James’ winter ride is a 1999 Toyota 4Runner.

I love my 15-year-old 4Runner. Invincible in snowy conditions when I’m crossing the country during a winter tour. The Bimmer is a different ride altogether and I only drive it three seasons of the year.”

“My favourite feature is the purr beneath the hood of that german engineering.”

“My best driving story is heading back home to Nova Scotia two summers ago. I was crossing the American border from Quebec to Maine. The Alabama-born customs guard asked me what I did. I said I was a comedian. He asked me my name.

I told him. ‘Never heard of ya.’ ‘Well how about that?’ I said, ‘I never heard of you either!’
He didn’t laugh.”
