For the 10th straight year, employees at Chrysler Canada’s Windsor Assembly Plant have participated in the city’s largest toy drive. Five new Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans full of new toys valued at over $15,000 were donated to “Sparky’s Toy Drive,” to benefit local needy children with gifts during the holiday season.
Members of the Windsor Fire Department, including “Sparky the Fire Dog,” Salvation Army representatives and CAW members were on hand to help pick up thousands of toys outside the Windsor Assembly Plant. This year marks the company’s biggest donation to date as well as its 10th anniversary of participation in support of “Sparky’s Toy Drive”.
“I am proud to lead such a generous and committed group of employees here at Windsor Assembly Plant,” remarked Dan Omahen, the facility’s manager. “Christmas is sure to be a brighter place for several hundred local kids who may not have been so fortunate, if not for the substantial gifts donated.”
Over the past 10 years, Windsor Assembly Plant employees have donated more than 30 minivans full of toys valued at nearly $100,000 and helped roughly 30,000 children in need during this time of year. The toys will be distributed throughout the month of December.
The Windsor Assembly Plant builds the Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country and also the Ram C/V. The Dodge Caravan has been the number one selling minivan since its introduction 28 years ago, with more than 13 million examples rolling off the assembly line since that time.
