Another Chinese automaker is preparing to enter Canada.
Chinese automaker Geely Auto has officially confirmed plans to enter the Canadian market in 2027, bringing its global automotive portfolio to a country where it is already laying the groundwork for a retail and service network.
“Canada represents an important next step in Geely Auto’s international growth,” said Bryan Wu, Managing Director of Geely Auto Canada, in a statement.
In an Oct. 9 announcement, Geely Auto Canada said it has established a Canadian team and is developing local operations, including a retail and service network, ahead of its official launch next year. The move marks another step in the automaker’s international expansion and could open the door to new retail opportunities for Canadian dealers as the company seeks experienced local partners.
“We are entering this market with a long-term commitment, bringing our global technology and engineering capabilities to Canadian drivers while building strong local partnerships and the support customers need to feel confident in choosing Geely,” said Wu. “We know that trust is earned over time, and we are committed to earning it here.”
The company said developing a Canadian retail and service network will be central to its market entry strategy. It plans to work with established partners who understand their local communities and can provide customer support throughout the vehicle ownership experience.
Geely enters the market with a significant international presence. The automaker operates in more than 100 countries and regions, with global capabilities spanning vehicle engineering, electrification, safety and advanced manufacturing.
In 2025, Geely Auto Group sold more than 3.02 million vehicles worldwide, an increase of 39 per cent from the previous year. Sales of new energy vehicles reached nearly 1.69 million units, up 90 per cent year over year.
Geely has not yet identified which vehicles will be available in Canada or announced pricing, dealership locations or specific launch dates. Further details are expected as the company approaches its 2027 commercial launch.
