Tremblay buys Franke Mercedes-Benz in Quebec

Tremblay Auto Groupe has acquired Franke Mercedes-Benz in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, adding its first luxury brand and expanding its dealership network to eight locations, according to media reports.

Effective July 2, the dealership will operate as Mercedes-Benz Ste-Agathe. The transaction follows Tremblay Auto Groupe’s acquisition of Belvedere Nissan Saint-Jérôme in August 2025 and continues the Quebec-based group’s growth strategy.

The sale also marks the end of 69 years of ownership by the Franke family. According to L’info du Nord, Bernard Franke said consolidation within the automotive retail sector made it increasingly difficult for independent dealers to remain competitive on their own.

“The automotive sales sector has become a business of groups,” said Franke. “For an independent dealer like us, it no longer makes sense to evolve alone. We must now be part of a group to meet the challenges of the future.”

Franke said joining an established dealer group would help ensure the dealership’s long-term future and support its continued growth.

According to AutoMédia, the transaction was overseen by DSMA partner Gracielle Sills, who said confidentiality was maintained throughout the sale process to ensure operational stability and protect dealership employees. She added that Franke Mercedes-Benz had been one of only two independently owned Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Quebec, leaving Mercedes-Benz Laval as the province’s only remaining independently owned Mercedes-Benz retailer.

Patrick Tremblay, owner and president of Tremblay Auto Groupe, said the acquisition represents an important milestone for the company as it enters the luxury vehicle market. The group also announced the appointment of Dean Courtis as general sales manager. Courtis previously worked with Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Canada between 2015 and 2021.
