VinFast soon roaring into North America

August 12, 2022

The VinFast VF8 mid-size SUV models will compete with the likes of the Volkswagen ID.4 and Hyundai’s Ioniq 5, though right now, North American audiences likely know little to nothing about the relatively young electric vehicle automaker. In March, it announced a $2 billion (U.S.) production facility would break ground in North Carolina by the end of 2022 to produce VinFast EVs for the North American market. Those vehicles are expected to be available by 2024. Like Tesla, VinFast will not use franchised dealers in Canada, but plans to have retail locations in malls as well as separate locations with service facilities. Mobile services will be offered for buyers who live further away from those centres. Sales are slated to begin in Canada by the end of this year, starting in the Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City areas. Read original article here.
