Ford to build EV batteries in U.S. with Korean energy company

Ford is partnering with Korean energy company SK Innovation in a new joint venture that will see the two companies create BlueOvalSK: a firm responsible for producing batteries in the United States. “The automaker thinks it will need 240 gigawatt hours’ worth of battery production by 2030, with 140GWh specifically needed in North America,” said CNET. “That’s a demand BlueOvalSK is designed to service.” The news comes on the heels of the OEM’s 2022 F-150 Lightning reveal.
