In response to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s recall on failing touchscreens in 134,951 Tesla vehicles, the automaker is arguing that the units were only ever expected to last five to six years. The NHTSA said wear and tear in the units can lead to “a failure in some of the centre display functions.” Affected units include the 2012-2018 Tesla Model S and 2016-2018 Model X vehicles with a NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor.
