Honda’s charitable arm, the Honda Canada Foundation (HCF), has teamed up with Kids Help Phone to become the national sponsor of its new Back to School program that aims to provide students with guidance as they return to the classroom.
Specifically, the funds donated by the OEM’s charity will be used to help kids in Canada have access to trusted support services, counselling, and information. Honda said a recent survey by Kids Help Phone found that one in three “texters” are feeling distressed at the idea of returning to the school.
“Through this partnership, our goal is to ensure that young people have access to professional counsellors and crisis responders during these times of uncertainty,” said Tony Facciolo, Chair of the Honda Canada Foundation.
Katherine Hay, President and CEO, Kids Help Phone, echoed those thoughts, saying the partnership will help ensure “young people, parents and educators have the tools and support they need, 24/7, to help in this challenging back-to-school transition.”
The Back to School program offers students access to online tools and resources to prepare children, youth, and educators throughout September and October as school reopens. Some of the resources include things like Counsellor in the Classroom for elementary students, Good2Talk for post-secondary students, and back-to-school checklists, tips, and additional toolkits for educators.
Honda’s HCF branch has donated more than $600,00 to support various needs across Canada in response to the pandemic, including essential nutrition and healthcare.
