The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) has launched a national initiative known as EcoMonth, which aims to boost visibility of green vehicles and efficient driving techniques with the help of “top” Canadian automotive journalists.
September has been deemed the official month for the initiative, described by AJAC as a national education program “highlighting health, environmental, and financial benefits of electrified or fuel-efficient driving to unfold throughout September.”
The program will span five weeks (September 1 to October 2), with participating journalists from across the country set to use the hashtag #AJACecoMonth to make it easier for consumers to find content on green vehicle test drives, comparison tests, vehicle technologies, and electric vehicle charging station network expansions, among other things.
“The program is designed to help consumers make better and more efficient choices that can lead to a reduced environmental impact on the planet, more fuel savings for drivers at a time when finances may be stretched due to COVID-19, and improved overall public health,” said AJAC in its news release.
The initiative is supported by Suncor, owner of Petro-Canada that recently opened more than 50 electric vehicle charging stations across the country, and Electrify Canada, which has DC charging stations in Ontario, British Columbia, and soon Quebec.
“We are pleased to support the EcoMonth initiative to help raise awareness of the many benefits of driving electric and the growing infrastructure in place to provide confidence for those making the transition to electric vehicles,” said Robert Barrosa, chief operating officer at Electrify Canada.
