A Tesla employee refused a bribe of US$1 million to help Russian hackers infiltrate the OEM’s computer system as part of a ransomware scam. “The plan, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, was to get the employee to introduce malware ‘into the company’s computer network’ that would allow (Egor Igorevich) Kriuchkov and his co-conspirators access to the company’s system, letting them download data and threaten to make it public.” The employee went straight to Tesla, who alerted the FBI.
