Voluntary C02 emissions standards introduced in Australia

Voluntary CO2 emissions standards have been introduced by the Australian automotive industry in an effort to catch up to global standards. Beginning in 2021 the industry will evaluate CO2 emissions targets of every automotive brand in Australia, publishing an annual report card for consumers. Electric vehicles, which are considered zero emission vehicles, will not be included. The CO2 emissions targets will vary according to the size and type of vehicle in an effort to discourage higher prices and a drop in sales of SUVs and four-wheel-drive vehicles, which are popular in the country.
