Ford honours top suppliers

Ford suppliersFord Motor Company has bestowed its World Excellence Award on 47 of its top performing automotive suppliers around the globe. The awards, which honour both production and non-production suppliers, are divided into three categories — Gold, Silver and Record of Achievement.

The first two awards are given to the top five and 10 per cent of suppliers who have consistently demonstrated superior quality, cost and delivery performance.

The Recognition of Achievement award is bestowed upon those suppliers who boost customer satisfaction as result of significant contributions in key areas — including New Consumer Focused Technology, Consumer Driven Six-Sigma, Durability and Reliability, Diversity Development, Community Service and Corporate Responsibility.

“Our partnership with our suppliers played a pivotal role in the progress we made on the One Ford plan in 2012,” remarked Tony Brown, Ford group vice-president, Global Purchasing. “Our WEA winners have shown a dedication to excellence. Thank you for helping Ford serve customers with the best vehicles in the world.”

In addition to the WEAs this year, Ford also recognized 35 suppliers with a special Go Further award. This was given as a result of above and beyond contributions to the Evonik fire recovery, emergency resourcing actions, and extraordinary plant and equipment launch support.

In reference to the Go Further award winners, Ford’s chief operating officer, Mark Fields, said, “we want to recognize those suppliers who have demonstrated excellence despite the unforeseen challenges that have happened over the past year. Thanks to your unwavering commitment, we are closer than ever to reaching our goal of delivering profitable growth for all.”
