AutoTrader has released its 2026 AutoTrader Awards, naming what it calls the best vehicles to buy in Canada. The annual awards, announced Feb. 12 in Toronto, recognize 28 category winners selected by a jury of more than 20 automotive journalists from across the country.
Among the top honours: Honda Civic and Civic Hybrid for Best Overall Car, Toyota RAV4 for Best Overall SUV, and Ford Maverick and Maverick Hybrid for Best Overall Truck. Hyundai’s Ioniq 9 earned both Best Overall Green Vehicle and Best mid-size SUV, while Toyota was named Canada’s Most Trusted Car Brand.
Jodi Lai, Editor-in-Chief of AutoTrader, said in a statement that “everything we do is designed to empower Canadians throughout their car-buying journey. The AutoTrader Awards provide car shoppers with unbiased, expert recommendations they can trust.”
Jurors evaluated vehicles based on value, practicality, user-friendliness, performance, safety, innovation and overall excellence. All vehicles sold in Canada were eligible.
“With so many strong options on the market, choosing the right vehicle can feel overwhelming,” added Lai. “The AutoTrader Awards cut through the noise, giving Canadians a trusted starting point when researching their next car.”
Other notable winners include Toyota Camry (Best Family Sedan), Porsche 911 (Best Premium Performance car), Ford F-150 lineup (Best Full-Size Truck), Lucid Gravity (Best Premium EV), and Toyota Prius (Best Hybrid).
