Dealers across Canada may be interested to note that Uber and Turo have announced a multi-year partnership that will allow Uber customers to rent Turo’s vehicles, a selection of more than 1,600 makes and models, directly from the Uber app across certain global markets.
In a news release, Turo said Uber will bring its vehicle selection to the Uber Rent platform early next year. The partnership aims to open up more opportunities for Turo’s clients, while allowing millions of Uber customers in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and France to get behind the wheel of Turo’s range of vehicles.
“Our partnership with Uber unlocks a huge opportunity to utilize the Uber Rent platform to turbocharge growth and further cement our position as the world’s largest peer-to-peer car sharing platform,” said Andro Vrdoljak, Vice President of Business Development at Turo, in a statement. “By joining forces with Uber, Turo is well positioned to penetrate a massive $150B-plus total addressable market.”
For Uber’s part, Niraj Patel, Global Head of Consumer Vehicles, said in a statement that the partnership can further the two company’s shared goals of reducing private car ownership and putting the cars that are on the road to better use.
“We see flexible access to shared vehicles as a critical part of the future of transportation — and partnerships such as this with Turo are a key part of getting there while continuing to offer the best experience for riders,” said Patel.
