Ford, Rivian cancel plans to jointly develop EV

November 22, 2021

Ford and Rivian will no longer jointly develop an electric vehicle, dropping previous plans to do so. “We respect Rivian and have had extensive exploratory discussions with them,” a spokesperson told Reuters, based on Driving.ca. “However, both sides have agreed not to pursue any kind of joint vehicle development or platform sharing.” Ford owns about 12 per cent of Rivian, a California-based EV maker that went public on November 10 and is worth more than Ford.
