Rental car shortage affecting Canadians

A shortage of rental cars is making it difficult for Canadians to rent a vehicle. Many car rental companies sold off much of their fleet during the pandemic, and with the global microchip shortage causing dealerships to experience low vehicle inventories, these rental companies are experiencing a shortage of available vehicles. “We used to have a lot of people booking last-minute stuff and that is very very hard to get,” Roland Van Meurs of the Alberta Motor Association, told CityNews. These circumstances combined with the uptick of domestic Canadian travellers have worsened the situation.
