Toyota chief criticized for questioning Japan’s carbon-neutral plan

Toyota Motor Corporation President Akio Toyoda was criticized by some of the company’s shareholders for questioning Japan’s plan to ban gas and diesel-powered cars days after the firm reviewed its climate lobbying policy aimed at reaching carbon neutrality by 2050, according to Reuters. “Three days later though, in his capacity as head of the Japanese automobile Manufacturers Association, Toyoda questioned the country’s decision to ban new internal combustion engined vehicles by 2035 in its quest for carbon neutrality.” (Source: Reuters).
