NHTSA opens public opinion on driverless car principles

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently announced that it is seeking public comment on the development of future principles that will help govern the safe behaviour of automated driving systems. According to CNET, “These early proposals seek to ‘define, assess and manage the safety of ADS performance while ensuring the needed flexibility to enable further innovation.’” The idea will be to create a single, cohesive “blanket” of regulations for the future.
