As parents and students consider their transportation options for the 2019-2020 school year, the editors at Kelley Blue Book have taken the opportunity to list the 10 of the best back-to-school vehicles of 2019, based on their research.
The list includes the Toyota Corolla Hatchback, Kia Soul, Honda Civic, Mazda3, Volkswagen Jetta, Honda Fit, Hyundai Kona, Honda HR-V, Subaru Impreza, and Nissan Kicks.
“While parents and young drivers may not always agree on the ideal car for going to school, there are some great choices out there that can serve as common ground,” said Matt DeLorenzo, senior managing editor for Kelley Blue Book. “We’ve chosen 10 new cars for students that are a great mix of safe, reliable, cool and affordable, with the fuel-efficient and sporty 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback at the top of the list.”
The editors selected the list of new vehicles based on a few factors: current market conditions, vehicle availability, local demand, seasonal buying trends, and the starting price must be around $20,000 or less (according to Kelley Blue Book’s Fair Purchase Price).
KBB also advises students and parents to do their research in advance, to drive at least two or three different models, and to consider shopping online to find local dealers, among other things.
