A wide range of brands have been included on this year’s list of 2019 Green Car finalists, which was recently announced by the Green Car Journal.
In the Green Car of the Year category, finalists include: the Honda Insight, Lexus ES 300h, Nissan Altima, Toyota Avalon Hybrid, and Volkswagen Jetta.
In contention for the Luxury Green Car of the Year award are the Audi e-tron, Jaguar I-PACE, Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid, Range Rover P400e, and Tesla Model 3.
And the Green SUV of the Year finalists are: the Cadillac XT4, Hyundai Kona, Lexus UX, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, and the Volvo XC40.
“Finalists for the 2019 Green Car of the Year illustrate that ‘green’ comes in many forms, with efficient internal combustion and hybrid vehicles taking centre stage,” said Ron Cogan, Editor and Publisher of Green Car Journal (print and online).
He also notes how evident the importance of electrification has become in today’s models, “with two 2019 Green SUV of the Year finalists and all five finalists for the 2019 Luxury Green Car of the Year featuring battery electric or plug-in hybrid power.”
The Green Car of the Year is typically selected by Green Car Journal editors and invited jurors. This year’s jurors include celebrity Jay Leno; Jean-Michel Cousteau, President of Ocean Futures Society; Matt Petersen, President and CEO of Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator and Board Member of Global Green USA; and many more.
The award winners will be revealed on November 29 at 8:15 a.m. PST. The announcement will take place at AutoMobility LA’s Technology Pavilion in Los Angeles, California.
