With so many exhibitors vying for attention at auto shows, it can be tough for them to connect with potential customers.

But the 2016 Chicago Auto Show organizers have found a way to help bring exhibitors and attendees together on the show floor.

From the 2016 Chicago Auto Show mobile app, exhibitors will be able to message attendees as they are checking out new vehicles, said the auto show organizers.

The app features beacon technology, which can collect traffic information based on proximity, such as dwell time and return rates. The beacons can also message attendees, and ask them if they require more information about a vehicle or if they want to register for a test drive at a local dealership.

After a successful pilot program last year, the Chicago Auto Show is rolling out the attendee beacon and messaging platform to all exhibitors.

The 2016 Chicago Auto Show will be held Feb. 13-21 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill.
