One of the big draws of the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association CADA Summit is having speakers that look at the big picture.
And for the 2016 CADA Summit to be held Feb.10, 2016 in Toronto, that includes looking at the overall economy and how it impacts Canada’s automotive retail industry.
The Economic Panel will be back by popular demand, with the discussion sure to generate a lot of buzz and questions from the audience, said Michael Hatch, CADA’s Chief Economist.
“It’s always a fun session. Usually we make it a pretty good conversation,” said Hatch, in an interview with Canadian auto dealer.
Hatch will return as the panel’s moderator, but he will be leading the discussion with an all-new group of speakers. This year’s panelists are highly regarded in their fields, and are no strangers to being in the spotlight.
The panel includes Mike Moffatt, an Assistant Professor at Ivey Business School, Susan Prince, a founding partner of Harbinger Capital Market Inc. and freelance business broadcaster, and Dina Ignjatovic, an economist with TD Bank Financial Group.
Hatch said he will be connecting with the panelists over the coming weeks to help focus the conversation on topics such as economic growth, currency movements, trade deals and other large indicators that impact dealers.
By the time the CADA Summit rolls around, they will also have final sales numbers for 2015, though Hatch said it’s already shaped up to be another record year.
As part of the Economic panel, the panelists will also share some of their economic predictions for the year.
For Hatch, there’s more growth to come in 2016. But he remains cautiously optimistic.
“New-car sales growth cannot outpace overall general economic growth forever and ever,” said Hatch.
For the fourth year, TD Auto Finance Canada is the CADA Summit’s exclusive sponsor.
