Richmond Auto Mall is raising the bar for car buyers with an expansion plan to transform its facilities that could total $180 million in investments over the next five years.
Gail Terry, the General Manager of Auto Mall Association, said in a written release that the development will create new state-of-the-art stores to boost the customer shopping experience.
The first phase of the project includes an addition of BPL Auto Group’s Richmond Acura, and brand new facilities for Cowell Auto Group’s Audi of Richmond and Jaguar Land Rover of Richmond.
In phase two, the current Audi and Jaguar Land Rover locations will be demolished to make way for a new, contemporary Volkswagen dealership, adding another new franchise to the auto mall which would bring the total dealership count to 16.
“The expansion will definitely enrich the customer experience even further,” said Terry.
Construction kicked off in a groundbreaking ceremony on April 8, 2015.
Completion of Richmond Acura and the new Audi of Richmond and Jaguar Land Rover of Richmond facilities is slated for Autumn 2016, although Terry said dealerships will continue to be operational during the construction.
“The new development sits behind the original Auto Mall which means customers can enjoy business as usual at all of our dealerships during the construction phase.”
