VULOG, A European leader in car sharing and advanced mobility technology has developed a new car sharing solution designed to work with automotive supplier VALEO’s InBlue in-vehicle embedded technology.
This Bluetooth based “closed loop” technology will be demonstrated at VALEO’s booth at Detroit Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Congress running from September 7-11 2014 at Cobo Center, in Detroit, Mich.
VULOG has collaborated with VALEO on BlueSharedAccess, a new smartphone based technology for car sharing services.
For the past eight years, VULOG has developed hardware and software solutions that not only facilitated the deployment of car sharing services for operators around the world but also directly benefited end users. Through its partnership with VALEO, the company is leveraging smartphone technology to create a new, seamless and more convenient user experience. As a result, a Bluetooth enabled smartphone to control the whole user experience.
As a result, a smartphone that can find and reserve a vehicle is now transformed into a wireless solution that enables an approved user to both unlock the car and start its engine without a traditional key. The system can automatically detect an authorized smartphone in proximity to a car and ensure the connection is highly secure and protected by security equivalent to that of smartphone payment transactions. This technology reflects VULOG’s vision to make shared vehicles as convenient and simple to use as those that are privately owned.
BlueSharedAccess: The product of VALEO and VULOG’s technology and expertise, VALEO’s ambition is to spread the use of its smartphone based vehicle access and engine start systems into new markets. Through its partnership with VULOG on this technology VALEO aims to demonstrate its application to shared vehicle fleets. The growing success of shared mobility has the potential to disrupt the traditional transportation paradigm while reducing its environmental impact.
By leveraging VULOG’s expertise, this simple and intuitive technology could benefit both public and corporate car sharing to improve urban networks, more efficiently optimize fleet utilization and cut costs. This new technology will contribute an important advance to Carsharing’s prominence in the sharing economy.
