On Sunday July 14th, Lexus of Oakville, in Oakville, Ont. hosted an exclusive performance driving event for the new 2014 IS sports sedan. A test track was set up near the dealership, close to Wyecroft Road and the QEW, with attendees receiving professional instruction courtesy of the ILR Car Control School in Mount Albert, Ont. “The IS is a performance vehicle,” said Frank Apa, Lexus of Oakville president “and the only way one can really appreciate the car is to test drive it under race track conditions and that is what we have created here today.”
Lexus of Oakville had three 2014 IS models available for demonstration drives and the response from guests who got a chance to put the cars through their paces proved very positive. During the event, Apa said that “the reception so far has been overwhelming.” Lexus of Oakville has hosted VIP events before but as Apa noted, “not of the same magnitude.”
The exclusive event also featured a guest appearance by Toronto Argonauts vice-chair, former team head coach and star player Michael ‘Pinball’ Clemons, as well as a premium barbecue and beverages, on-site DJ and valet parking. The dealership was opened for the day, allowing guests to sample some of the latest vehicles in the Lexus lineup as well as a selection of tuned IS models brought in specially for the event.
