In B.C., OpenRoad Auto Group recently announced that it had been named as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies.
This marks OpenRoad’s first time in receiving the award, and the firm is one of just six companies in B.C. to win this designation. “Our greatest investment is in our people. We focus on employee development and creating opportunities for them to advance their careers,” remarked Christian Chia, CEO of OpenRoad Auto Group. “By helping our employees advance, we feel that this is how we can better serve our customers. We strive to differentiate ourselves with our competitors, and the way we do it is to provide a better guest experience.”
Now in its 20th year, the Canada’s Best Managed Companies designation remains an emblem of pride for private Canadian organizations with revenues over $10 million. At the core of the rigorous award selection process is an evaluation of management skills and practices within a company.
At present, OpenRoad is one of Canada’s fasting growing automotive retail groups with 11 dealerships and two collision centres. A key focus of OpenRoad has always been innovation, such as creating its own guest loyalty program. To encourage employee growth, OpenRoad has also made significant investments in an in-house leadership development program. The success of these initiatives has also helped Chia earn the coveted Canadian Automobile Dealers Association Laureate award for Innovator of the Year in 2012.
“The products and business model are more or less the same from one dealership to another,” said Chia. “What we have to do to differentiate ourselves is by offering the best service, the best guest experience and the best work environment for our people.”
