Manitoba-based Murray Automotive Group, which celebrated 85 years in business in 2011, has acquired a minority interest in Interior B.C.’s Salmon Arm Honda, the latest acquisition after it took over the Hyundai dealership in White Rock in March. The Group has also acquired two Chrysler dealerships in Brandon in 2011.
The Group was started by grandfather A.A. (Andy) Murray who began selling Star, Essex, and Hudson vehicles from his business lot. He expanded into General Motors in 1934. The group has been a long-time vehicle dealer but in recent years has expanded into imports.
The Group has dealerships in the four western provinces and also the Maritimes and employs 1,000 individuals in 22 different dealers.
