Mitsubishi Motors and its Canadian dealer network have reached a significant fundraising milestone in their efforts to fight food insecurity, surpassing $1 million in donations over six years.
According to an October news release from Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada, the 2026 Driving to End Hunger campaign raised $340,000 and collected 2,800 kilograms of food, with all Mitsubishi dealerships (nearly 100) across the country participating.
The campaign, now in its sixth consecutive year, supports Food Banks Canada and local food organizations through fundraising, food drives and community initiatives. This year’s efforts took place in the weeks leading up to World Food Day on Oct. 16.
“Driving to End Hunger continues to show what’s possible when our network comes together to support Canadians,” said Kenichi Kawaji, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada, in a statement. “Once again this year, every Mitsubishi Motors dealer across the country participated in the campaign. That continued commitment from our dealers, employees and customers is making a meaningful difference in communities from coast to coast.”
Alongside dealership fundraising activities, Mitsubishi Motors Canada contributed to Food Banks Canada, while employees at its Mississauga head office and parts distribution centre supported local food banks through donations and volunteer initiatives.
Since the partnership began six years ago, Mitsubishi Motors and its dealers have contributed more than $1 million and over 10,000 kilograms of food to organizations addressing food insecurity.
The initiative comes as demand for food banks remains high. Food Banks Canada reported nearly 2.2 million visits to food banks in a single month, highlighting the continuing need for community support.
Kirstin Beardsley, CEO of Food Banks Canada, thanked Mitsubishi and its dealership partners for their continued involvement, emphasizing the importance of long-term partnerships in helping communities facing food insecurity.
