Ontario-based digital used vehicle retailer Clutch has appointed U.S. automotive veteran Richard Ball as its new Chief Production Officer. His resume includes high-impact roles at Carvana, Vroom, CarMax, and Sonic Automotive.
In his new position Ball will have oversight of the company’s national inspection and reconditioning centres. This includes the inspection and reconditioning of pre-owned vehicles, as the company aims to expand its footprint and scale its platform across Canada.
“I’m looking forward to building on my experiences to help modernize the car buying and selling experience here in Canada,” said Richard Ball, Chief Production Officer of Clutch, in a statement. “After more than two decades in the U.S. auto retailing market, I see Clutch leading the charge in reshaping how Canadians buy and sell cars.”
Ball brings over 25 years of experience in automotive production, lean manufacturing, and scaling complex operations. At Carvana he played a pivotal role in helping to boost retail sales. He led 6,000 employees across 15 inspection and reconditioning centers, as well as introduced industry-leading training and leadership programs, and more.
“We are thrilled to welcome Richard as Chief Production Officer. His deep expertise in scaling production and facility operations while embedding a relentless focus on quality will be critical as we continue to grow rapidly and deliver an unmatched car-buying experience to Canadians,” said Dan Park, CEO of Clutch, in a statement.
