Uber to donate $1M to Afghan refugees, adds two languages to driver app

Ride-hailing service Uber is donating $1 million to help Afghan refugees, increasing a previous pledge of $600,000. The company also launched an in-app donation button so customers can support the refugees more easily, and reportedly plans to match all in-app donations—up to an additional $1 million. “[CEO Dara Khosrowshahi] also said Uber offers ‘valuable’ employment opportunities for immigrants, so it’s adding Pashto and Dari—two of Afghanistan’s major languages—to its driver app and support pages,” said CNET.
