U.K. experiences worse January car production since 2009

Car production in the U.K. was down 27.3% in January 2021 year-on-year; only 86,052 cars were built during this time, making it the worst January since 2009. It also marks the 17th consecutive month of decline. “The ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic drove the decline to a large extent, causing global supply chain issues and keeping car dealerships in the U.K. closed under lockdown restrictions,” said Auto Express, adding that the Brexit transition also had an impact.
