Britain, Japan sign major trade deal post-Brexit

Britain signed its first major post-Brexit trade deal with Japan amid struggles to agree on the terms of a new deal with the European Union. The deal with Japan means Britain will remove its tariffs on Japanese cars in stages zero in 2026 — the same as in the Japan-EU trade agreement. “This is the first new free trade deal to be agreed since the U.K. once again became an independent trading nation,” said British Trade Secretary Liz Truss.
